Tempting Providence Opens June 15th
Tempting Providence is a captivating play that tells the remarkable story of a nurse named Myra Grimsley, (Kiara Cote) who left her home in England to work in the remote and rugged terrain of Newfoundland in the early 20th century. The play, written by Robert Chafe, is based on the true story of Grimsley’s life, and it is an inspiring and moving portrayal of her courage and determination.
The play takes place over several decades, following Grimsley’s journey as she travels from England to Newfoundland, where she is tasked with providing medical care to the people of the isolated communities along the coast. Grimsley faces many challenges, including treacherous weather conditions, a lack of resources, and the suspicion and resistance of the local people, who are skeptical of her methods.
Tempting Providence is a compelling and thought-provoking play that explores themes of bravery, resilience, and the power of human connection. It is a must-see for anyone interested in history, nursing, or the human spirit.

You last saw Kiara Cote on our stage in November 2021 in the production of “Educating Rita”!
Don’t miss her in this amazing Canadian story where she plays the part of intrepid nurse Myra Bennett.
