Scrooge! The Musical

The musical numbers are joyous, toe-tapping and inspirational. Marley and the Ghosts sing about how to “Make the most of this world”. Scrooge tries to justify his life choices when he presents “It’s Not My Fault”. The company, over 30 characters, join in the finale “Thank you very much”.
Opening to a tableau of a Dickensian Christmas Carol, circa 1843, with throngs of shoppers, the audience is transported to Scrooge’s office in the very next scene, and the familiar story begins to unfold. Scrooge’s humbug character is revealed as he interacts with his mild-mannered and overworked clerk Bob Cratchit, and his determinedly upbeat nephew, both of who intend to enjoy Christmas despite Scrooge’s bleak outlook on all things joyous. It takes visits from his long-departed business partner Jacob Marley and a trio of ghosts to cause Scrooge to reconsider his ways and perhaps take a chance at redemption.

In Studio Theatre Perth’s production of Scrooge! the Musical by Leslie Bricusse and directed by Carolee Mason. Bob Del Grande plays Scrooge and Rob Glas in Marley’s role.
“Bah Humbug”, you say!
Another rendition of Charles Dickens’s 1843 Novella A Christmas Carol?
Not so fast, young Tiny Tim.
This Studio Theatre Perth production is going to be amazing. Under the experienced direction of Carolee Mason and Brad Mills rehearsing over 30 local Perthites of all ages and conducting a band of 7 musicians, this could be the star on top of your tree, the piece of holly on your flaming Christmas pudding.
